TLALOC AND OPOCHTLI Ancient Anahuac; which became Mexico in 1325 after the Mongol/Tartar Triple Alliance of the Mexicas, Acolhuans and the Tepanecs conquered Azcapotzalco and established Tenochtitlan as their capital. Before the Conquest of the Americas by the Mongols and Tartars in the 13th Century, the Melanations of Anahuac and Mesoamerica made themselves gods, worshiped fashioned images, and made altars of dressed stones and steps to go up to their altars. Tlaloc was the god of rain, lightning and thunder. Opochtli was the god of hunting and fishing.
