So, Kamala Harris was finally asked straight-up about reparations for “Black people” , with no chaser or anywhere to run, and her answer was garbage. She is avoiding addressing the issue with the same specificity with which we were harmed in the first place (we were targeted based on race and lineage aka #ADOS people) which is crucial to the social and political reconciliatory aspects of reparations. She spoke as-if this was some travesty that can be very subtly addressed through an “all people” policy. It’s not. This is not some “class” issue you can use a program aimed at “everyone making 100,000 or less” to fix. And yes America would benefit if you help actually helped #ADOS people but that’s because it changes how we are able to interact with the American landscape, not because you ALSO gave money to random other people “making less than 100k” as well. Get out of here with that!
And FYI for anyone wondering about “Black immigrants get discriminated against too” please realize that is not the point of this current discussion for reparations; Yes, issues Black immigrants face in this country that are based on race and mirrored from how #ADOS people are treated need to be addressed as well. However, that is really a secondary claim to the major reparations act. #ADOS people cannot deny some Black immigrants have also faced similar oppression in this country as we have, and I won’t forget that, even though the discussion is centered around #ADOS right now.
